Character's Name: Praetor Sarainy
Known Aliases: Sarainy the Shadow, Vindcita's Chosen, Emissary of Zaros, Loremaster of the Wushanko Empire
Clan: Wushanko Empire
Gender: Female
Age: Late 20s
Birthplace: Nardah in the Kharidian Desert

Appearance: Sarainy always wears her red hair pulled up into a ponytail. She wears robes of deep purple trimmed with gold, often with her armour even when not in combat. Her eyes glow with a mystical energy and a great rend sits across the top of her chest, made of pure voidstuff that leaks forth slowly though causes her no pain.

Personality: A mortal bestowed with great power by a God, Sarainy does not take her position for granted. A defender of the downtrodden, she is quick to try and help others although typically only if they ask her for it. Yet she is quick to dismiss those who seem heedless to her advice, letting them suffer their own fate.

Allegiance: Zaros, Vindicta & Gorvek, Pharaoh Dayan Itsu - in that order.

Equipment: On top of her robes typically sits dark green splint mail along with a gorget pulled up over her mouth. A scroll-case sits at her belt, alongside a pair of ornate scimitars. It is common for her to weild both a single scimitar and a tome of ancient magicks. Frequently she will forgo all of these however for a lance used by the Dragon Riders.

Goals: She seeks to bring back the faith of Zaros, under the tuition of Vindicta and Gorvek who have a plan shadowed in secrecy. Quirks: She likes to call people by atypical names, such as their rank or a nickname based on their appearance or personality... or sometimes just her own creation. Social Status: Previously an outcast she now considers herself a great combatant as a Praetor in the name of Zaros.

Background: Sarainy and her father were chased out of Nardah when she was young, her father's secret worship of The Great Lord being discovered by the local worshipers of the Ellid. The two of them traveled the desert, relying only on each other, as he taught her how to survive the harsh land and also his knowledge of ancient magicks. They stumbled one day upon a long abandoned tomb, where they took shelter for many years. This place was consecrated to Zaros and with their continued worship eventually drew his gaze. Yet one day their location was discovered by Menaphites, who without cause butchered her father and tried to take her captive. In an explosion of divine energy, her eyes blast forth a purple power, turning the bandits to literal nothingness. In her grief Sarainy prayed to Zaros, both begging for her father's life back and cursing him for letting this happen. To her surprise, he answered.

The Great Lord told her that these events were preordained, a fixed point which would change the rest of her life. If she swore unending devotion to He above all else, he would grant her power to never need to hide, or run or lose those she loved ever again. With no hesitation she swore it so, and in that instant a gaping wound bore itself into her chest - agony coursed through her body as pure void energy tore into her. When she awoke, Sarainy found herself in a plane of vast nothing. Below her was a floor of stone which stretched out around her, covered in ash which had clearly not been disturbed for an incredibly long time. Bending down, she picked up a handful of the stuff, letting it pour between her fingers - no wind blew and it ran straight down to the ground. To her amazement she realised that as it fell it formed into intricate patterns and shapes. Not by magic, or at least any she could understand... they simply fell exactly where they were fated to be. As she looked she noticed that this was true for all of the ash, as far as her eyes could make out. Every single grain perfectly arranged as if by some great design. Her mouth was wide in wonder. "I'm dead," she said to herself. With that she sat and cried.

Yet in time she wandered, in no real direction at all until eventually she found nothing. The stone beneath her feet simply ended. Not into dirt or sand, or ash alone... but into literal nothingness. There was no darkness, this was no great pit, it was simply as if one step further forward the entire universe just stopped being anything more than air. It terrified her like nothing ever had. Yet as she turned, to flee from the horror of the emptiness, she spotted something. In the distance, how far she couldn't exactly say, there was a dragon. It's blue body the only thing she had seen in this place since her arrival. Despite herself she felt compelled to run towards it rather than away, and it seemed intent on watching and waiting for her to approach. It took her such a time to reach it, that it felt like she had known the beast for a long time by the time it was close by. It's eyes belied a vast intelligence, and it lead her through the ash waste without hesitation. After many days they arrived at another edge overlooking emptiness. This time however there was a small camp near the lip, and a colossal armoured figure practiced combat drills. The strangely shaped creature turned to Sarainy and said with a curious female voice "Zaros has sent you to me, and I will train you. Yet understand... you are mine and I am His," the figure looked at the dragon before tossing a scimitar to the floor in front of Sarainy. It kicked up ash, which scattered and fell into perfect geometric designs. "We begin now."
